The American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider course is designed to provide Healthcare Provider or layperson with the skills to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR to victims of all ages (adult/child/infant), use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely effective manner.

 Books will be provided for classroom use, and may be purchased from Channing Bete, Worldpoint ECC, Laerdal Medical, or download an eBook at http://ebooks.heart.org. Links provided in classroom receipt with the free study guide.

Intended Audience

Heartsaver® First Aid with CPR and AED course is designed for workplace training, for first-responders and others who are required to complete credentialed first aid, CPR and AED training. This includes infant, child, and adult training.

Target audience:
Corporate employees, school teachers, security guards, airline personnel, lifeguards, daycare workers,  and other individuals who want or need first aid training. NOT recommended for students entering healthcare/allied healthcare professions, CNA, and boat captains/crew.

The American Heart Association renewal option is targeted to those Advanced Cardiac Life Support Providers who use ACLS in their practice setting as a part of their job duties. The ACLS eLearning option is recommended for inexperienced providers or those that require the initial course.

ACLS REQUIREMENTS

  • American Heart Association ACLS Provider card. Current/expired certifications are welcome to attend (2015 ACLS Instructor Manual page 45).
  • There is a free online precourse self-assessment (password "acls15") that must be completed before the ACLS class for admission. Do not confuse it with the $132 eLearning option.
  • Current American Heart Association 2015 Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Provider Manual.  ACLS Provider Manual may be purchased from CPR Buddy Amazon Store, Channing Bete, Worldpoint ECC, Laerdal Medical, USF, Barnes, and Noble, or download an eBook at http://ebooks.heart.org/. Links provided on the receipt. 2015 ECC Handbook recommended.

RECIEVE American Heart Association ACLS card upon completion.

ACLS eLEARNING INITIAL, RECERTIFICATION OR UPDATE

Part 1 via the web: HeartCode ACLS™  $132.00.

Skills Session:  1-3 hours. $125.00

Expired certifications are welcome to attend The ACLS renewal classroom ($150.00) but will not be eligible for remediation. A score of 84% must be achieved on exam and skills testing with one attempt (2015 ACLS Instructor Manual page 45).

RECIEVE American Heart Association ACLS eCARD upon completion. Beginning January 1, 2018, all US-based AHA Training Centers will be required to use AHA eCards for issuing course completion cards to providers and students who successfully complete the requirements of AHA courses.AHA Customer Support:1-877-AHA-4CPR (1-877-242-4277).

HeartCode® ACLS is an official, self-directed, comprehensive eLearning program from the American Heart Association (AHA). HeartCode® ACLS Part 1 uses eSimulation technology to present realistic patient scenarios. Students are presented with a team dynamics lesson, 10 ACLS hospital-based case scenarios, and a written exam. While interacting with the program, students assess each patient, formulate a treatment plan based on ACLS guidelines, and provide treatment. Successful completion of Part 1, the cognitive component, and Parts 2 and 3, skills practice and testing with an AHA ACLS Instructor, meets the requirements for obtaining an AHA ACLS Provider course completion card.

BLS Provider card is no longer a prerequisite for entry into the ACLS program; the AHA requires “BLS SKILLS”. However, if your BLS card is about to expire/expired and you wish to renew, we still offer BASIC LIFE SUPPORT PROVIDER eLearning certification within the ACLS course (same day). Part 1 via the web. In person Parts 2 and 3, practice/evaluation.Total $60.00 (AHA 28.50 + CPR Buddy Skills Session 31.50). Links provided on the receipt. Your employer will require both certifications, BLS/ACLS.

AHA BLS INSTRUCTOR REQUIREMENTS.

  • Current American Heart Association BLS Provider card. Copy of front and back.
  • AHA BLS Instructors Essentials Online course certificate of completion. Purchase at  https://www.onlineaha.org/courses#7 the course is 1.25 hours/$30.00.
  • BLS Instructor Manual ($36.25). Purchase from an AHA Distributor, WorldPoint or Channing Bete.
  • Payment of $175.00 to Pasco-Hernando State College, New Port Richey, FL campus.
  • AHA Basic Life Support Instructor Candidate application. Emailed once payment has been received.
  • 5-7 hours BLS instructor classroom course offered at our Training Center, Pasco-Hernando State College, located at New Port Richey, FL campus.
  • AHA mandated instructor monitoring, if possible, will be done at your class location, or one of the five college campuses nearest to you. Currently, there are no annual affiliation or monitoring fees.
